\startfootnote\stopfootnote work correctly...
Footnotes are not yet fixed (due to Hans' flue ...)
So it is probably in vain trying to make sense of the current state of the
footnote mechanism.
Best wishes, Steffen
(with a few changes)
http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Footnotes seems confused (ToDo).
In particular, I am still trying to get
next=\autoinsertnextspace
to make \startfootnote\stopfootnote work correctly…
Large parts of the code have been rewritten and the next key wasn’t added yet.
Wolfgang
Hello,
I know that footnotes have been rewritten.
Now, \autoinsertnextspace is ignored.
Alan
Minimal example:
\setupfootnotes [next=\autoinsertnextspace]
%\setupnote [footnote] [next=\autoinsertnextspace] % same as above...
\starttext
\input tufte
\startfootnote
This is a footnote

replace \footnote{…} with \startfootnote …\stopfootnote.

Yes, this was fixed.

Hi,
please have a look at this:
\definestartstop[redimportant][before={\startcolor[red]\bf\penalty1\hskip\zeropoint},after={\/\stopcolor}]
\starttext
This is normal, but this\startredimportant one\startfootnote at least
\stopfootnote is bold\stopredimportant style.
This is normal
=start]
\starttext
test {\getbuffer[comurl]} text.% HEY!
test
\startfootnote
test \getbuffer[comurl]\ text.% HEY!
\stopfootnote{} text.% HEY!
\stoptext
Here, the % character can be used for URL, both in bodytext and footnote, but
works as comment, too.
And we can at the same time manually break
, but it is pretty ugly.%
\startfootnote
Hopefully Hans will fix this in mkiv.

In the meantime, we will just have to make do,
but the special syntax as seen here raises eyebrows
with my MS-Word bound collaborators.
Maybe for now
